Pyramid Dance Company (PDC) offers classes from beginner levels to advanced. Students may study for 1-hour a week, or choose a more intensive study, meeting a couple of times per week.

BALLET

Pyramid Dance Company (PDC) offers classes from beginner levels to advanced. Students may study for 1-hour a week, or choose a more intensive study, meeting a couple of times per week.

COMBO CLASSES

For the youngest dancers, incorporating both tap and ballet. The goal of our dance program is to instill a love of dance. Our youngest dancers learn basic ballet and tap movements in a positive and fun environment. Proper technique is taught through creative dances and imagination. As dancers journey through this comprehensive curriculum, they grow in developmentally appropriate skills.

JAZZ

This class will focus on the fundamentals of jazz dancing. Students will learn proper jazz technique including exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and control. This free style of dance involves isolations, jumps, leaps, and turns, and students will learn combinations influenced by contemporary dances and music of today.

TAP

Tap dancing provides a great source of rhythmic skill development. With it being an audible dance form, tap focuses on learning the fundamental tap sounds while working on progressions to build new rhythms upon the basics. Tap dance stimulates a sense of rhythm and beat and is popular for all ages.

HIP HOP

Designed to develop strength, body placement, coordination and musicality, Hip Hop is an upbeat and energetic class using current, age-appropriate music. All warm-ups include stretches emphasizing flexibility, endurance and elements of modern music videos, films and urban dance styles. Hip Hop classes will help build confidence and creativity, giving students opportunities to explore their own unique dance style.

JAZZ-FUNK

A trendy and fun style of dance, incorporating elements of both hip hop and jazz.

LYRICAL

Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. It is a combination of intricate, highly technical, and pedestrian/naturalistic moves. Lyrical dance is often choreographed to a song about freedom, of releasing a sad emotion, or of overcoming obstacles, but can be choreographed to any human emotion-related song. Depending on the given song and choreography, a lyrical piece may or may not be graceful, but will always be expressive and unpredictable.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music. Contemporary focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use, and proper body alignment.

*Please note, lyrical is required as a pre-requisite for all contemporary classes.

ACRO/TUMBLING

Acro is a style of training that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is very athletic and seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics/tumbling techniques. Dancers will learn and practice proper and safe tumbling techniques and learn how to do proper somersaults, back rolls, and cartwheels. Once those are mastered handsprings, tucks, and other advanced skills will be added. Acro is designed to enhance a dancers flexibility and strength.

Dress Code

Proper class attire is expected on a weekly basis. Students may be asked to sit out without proper attire.

ALL CLASSES

Without exception, hair should be pulled away from face and off the neck for all dance classes. Male dancers’ hair shouldn’t obstruct student’s vision. All dance shoes should not be worn outside the studio space. It is extremely important to only wear tap shoes on the dance floor. Concrete or other hard surfaces will scratch the metal tap, which in turn will scratch the studio dance floors. During colder months, dancers may wear appropriate layers over expected attire.

COMBO CLASSES

Dancer should wear a pink or black ballet leotard with pink tights, pink ballet shoes and black tie, buckle or velcro tap shoes. For older dancers, form-fitting bottoms are also allowed.

BALLET

Female dancers, please wear leotard, tights, pink or tan canvas ballet shoes, skirt or form-fitting shorts/pants also acceptable. Classic ballet buns highly encouraged.

JAZZ/CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL

Any style leotard or dance attire, including tank-tops and form-fitting pants/shorts. No clothing may be worn to obstruct the view of the body (i.e. baggy shirts/pants). Jazz shoes are required for jazz class; dance PAWS needed for Lyrical & Contemporary.

ACRO/TUMBLING

Leotard required, no shoes necessary.

TAP

Comfortable dance attire. No pants that drag on the floor and no jeans. Feet must be visible. Black tap shoes required; competition tappers will need lace-up tap shoes.

MALE DANCERS

In all above classes, please wear shorts or form-fitting pants as well as plain, well-fitting t-shirt or tank top.

HIP-HOP

Comfortable clothing. No tight jeans. NO skirts, no boots, no flip flops, no elevated shoes of any sort. Black Hip Hop shoes or indoor-only sneakers. Please dress the part/for comfort, baggy clothes ARE permitted in hip hop class, for all students.

Billing & Payment Policies

Registration Fee

There is a $40 annual, non-refundable registration fee for each family. The registration fee is due at the time of registration/enrollment.

Dropping a Class

Early withdrawal from a class before the completion of the year requires a 30-day written withdrawal notice, not by text, but by email. The parent/guardian will be responsible for tuition until your notice is sent and accepted.

Tuition

The tuition fee is not pro-rated due to absences or the number of classes in the month. Tuition is due no later than the 7th of each month. If a tuition payment is not received by the 10th of any month, a $15.00 late fee will be added to your account. A $25.00 fee will be added to your account for any returned check. A Dancer’s participation in the end-of-year recital is contingent on whether or not a family’s account remains outstanding at close of the season.

Payment Options

Each family has the option of cash, check or Venmo.

Checks can be made out to Pyramid Dance Company or Corina Ferro.

Please place cash or check payments in an envelope, labeled with your child/family name, and place in the drop box located at the studio.

Closures

Weather-Related Closing

Should we have to cancel classes due to weather conditions or any other emergency situation, PDC will notify affected students in a timely manner. Dancers should not assume the studio is closed based on any other factors and should wait to hear from the studio owner. School closings have no effect on the studio being open or closed. We will notify all affected dance families of a studio closure promptly, once the decision has been made.

Unforseen Closures

In the event of closures or restrictions, recommended or mandated, by a governing body, classes will continue virtually over ZOOM. Dancers have the option of taking their classes virtually or making them up in comparable classes. In the event of a closure, withdrawal notification policies and non-refundable payments remain unchanged. We are not able to refund or pro-rate due to unforeseen closures.

Refunds

Refunds

There are no tuition refunds for missed classes for any reason, including but not limited to, student absence from class, studio closings, weather, etc. Students have the option to attend a make-up class during a different but comparable class. There are no refunds on costume payments after costumes are ordered in November. If for any reason a student discontinues a class after costumes are ordered, the parent/guardian will not receive a refund.

Lost & Found

Please put your name on everything! Label shoes and clothing clearly so things do not get mixed up. We keep "found" items for approximately a month, after which time unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill.
